Take part in this 8 day workshop and experience – one of the most important festivities of the whole year. The crowds from the independence celebrations have departed and the local population takes back their town. You will have the opportunity to experience the Alborada which is the largest fireworks display of the year, Voladores de Papantla, the many castillos (towers of fireworks) and fireworks, the mojigangas (bigger than life papier puppets). There will be two lively parades with conchero dancers wearing bells, traditional beaded costumes, masks and feathered headdresses. They will be carrying Suchiles (large floral arrangements of cactus and flowers) to be placed on the front of the La Parroquia followed by the many regional dancers and floats. Spanning 8 days, the workshop includes pre and post sessions for the many events. Participants will be prepared for the unique problems of each shoot. Afterwards, they will share their results with the group, providing opportunities to see how others interpreted the same events, as well as to problem solve as needed.
